Plot Synopsis
A group of observers is discussing a species currently at risk of annihilation. They ask themselves whether these creatures are innately worth the cost and risk of preserving. Should they perhaps be left in their natural habitat, such as it is, to be carried along in the natural cycle of growth and decay?
The question is how to discover whether they have features of benefit to other species which would make them worth rescuing. First-hand observation and clear evidence seem the only viable way of coming to a rational decision…… The observers set out, well-equipped and hopeful.
Those most involved with these events are Helena Whitely: Janet her friend: Jake Whitely her son: and Patricia Li her god-daughter.
